A box for secrets

This is a box I made my granddaughter for her birthday today. She loves Twilight and reading vampire books so I covered the box with DCWV Immortal Love paper. This stack has some pretty papers that can be used for other things since only a few sheets really look vampire-ish.  I exchanged the clasp for one I bought at Lowes that will allow her to lock it with a small padlock. I girl has to have a secure place to keep things from her brother and sister of course.

Happy Birthday Gabby!

I painted the box black and glued the paper on. Then I coated the outside paper with Liquitex Matt Medium to give it a little protection. I sprayed the top of the box with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist. The small blue and tan flowers were colored by patting Distress ink on the craft mat, adding spritzed water, then painting them with it. The back of the tag is where I wrote a birthday message. You can't really see it in the picture...there is a red rose on that black blob (lace) in the box. I whipped this out in two days, although most of one day was spent wasting expensive gas running around town looking for things I needed and should have already had. (I am my father's daughter afterall.)    :-)

Steampunk Mini

Hey ya'll. I know, long time no post.  :-)  I'm so far behind on my projects, and still I keep starting new ones! What is wrong with me?!@!

The pages for this mini were made from folding a 12x12 sheet of cardstock as shown on the YouTube video by 7th Avenue Designs. I will make my next one slightly different by leaving some of the folds loose to make another page flap instead of a pocket. There are all sorts of variations you could do with this. I've had this Graphic 45 Steampunk paper for awhile. I decided I've petted it long enough...time to use it. Isn't all the Graphic 45 paper just luscious?
