A box for secrets

This is a box I made my granddaughter for her birthday today. She loves Twilight and reading vampire books so I covered the box with DCWV Immortal Love paper. This stack has some pretty papers that can be used for other things since only a few sheets really look vampire-ish.  I exchanged the clasp for one I bought at Lowes that will allow her to lock it with a small padlock. I girl has to have a secure place to keep things from her brother and sister of course.

Happy Birthday Gabby!

I painted the box black and glued the paper on. Then I coated the outside paper with Liquitex Matt Medium to give it a little protection. I sprayed the top of the box with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist. The small blue and tan flowers were colored by patting Distress ink on the craft mat, adding spritzed water, then painting them with it. The back of the tag is where I wrote a birthday message. You can't really see it in the picture...there is a red rose on that black blob (lace) in the box. I whipped this out in two days, although most of one day was spent wasting expensive gas running around town looking for things I needed and should have already had. (I am my father's daughter afterall.)    :-)

  1. Wow Diane worth the wait love the idea of brown and blue together.

  2. Great box! My daughter's name is Gabby, too. Her birthday is the 20th.

  3. Diane, you probably don't remember me from beachbody. But I checked your blogspot art gallery and lo and behold you turned a page! These are great! Like little memories and thoughts inviting you to take a look. I also liked you last drawing on your gallery. Colors are great! Merry Christmas. Ruthieann.
