Playing with spray

This is me trying out my new bottles of dylusions spray from Ranger—bought at Hobby Lobby for 40% off course! They come in packs of two. I bought one pack: fresh lime and vibrant turquoise. After spraying the page I decided to try collaging a napkin with this winged girl on it. Of course the napkin is transparent when wet with the Golden Matte Medium so I tried gluing a piece of the white backing down first. It helped but still too much green was showing through and you couldn't see her very well, so I outlined her with a sepia Micron pen and then painted her. That was actually fun. :) Then I added collage bits and stamping—just playing around. I stamped the music notes in black then thought they were too dark so I sanded it a little bit (which lightened it some) then sprayed some homemade gold glimmer mist on it (you can't see the sparkly gold in the picture). As is my luck, the glimmer spray came out in kind of glob. The results aren't great but I find that I don't really care when it's just an experiment trying out new products. :) It's awfully green isn't it? It looks better enlarged for clearer detail though.

Gratitude Girl

Mixed Media on canvas board.

I got this whole concept from the Willow & Friends Ning site. It was a challenge done by Tam. (Hers looks way way better.)  She limited her palette to black, white, gray, and a touch of pink. So I drew my own face, did a similar but not quite the same background, and copped her "gratitude" word. :)  I limited my palette to brown, black, white, and wee bit more than a touch of pink. Canvas board is what I had so that's what I used. I love that the lyrics on that middle bit of music says "What's the odds how much we spend". lol Spending is something most of us know about. Funny the things you notice that could have been done better when you're looking at a picture of it as opposed to the real thing.
