Pan Pastel and a bit of pastel pencil on 8.5 x 11 kraft paper.

I finally got a little time to play with my new pan pastels. I bought the portrait set and just wanted to play and experiment with them. This is just a quick sketch I did. What I learned is that seven colors of pan pastels is not enough. I also used pastel pencils, but if I were going to do a portrait for real, I would definitely have to incorporate my regular soft pastels for more color variations (or buy more pan pastel colors, which is simply not an option right now). Also, I like it a bit smother. I don't really like this girl a lot...there are issues with the drawing, but it's okay for a what it is....a quick bit of playtime. ;) [Note: The pinks in her cheeks and neck are not actually this rosy in the original. The camera does this. Probably my lack of photography skills.]
